Essential Skills 101

This foundational course is perfect for creating a strong, clear communication system between you and your dog. Using only positive reinforcement techniques, we’ll introduce marker training to reinforce desired behaviors effectively. This course focuses on building trust and establishing essential skills, including sit, stay, down, leave it, touch, eyes, and place. Whether you’re starting with a new puppy or reinforcing skills with an older dog, this class sets you up for long-term success.

Ready to level up? Essential Skills 202 takes everything you and your dog learned in 101 to the next stage. We’ll raise the criteria for obedience skills and build stronger recall, better impulse control, and advanced targeting. This course is designed to refine your dog’s behavior and expand their ability to work with distractions, making them more reliable in everyday situations.

Our Philosophy

Meet Ms. Dani, CPDT-KA, Barklandia’s dog trainer extraordinaire!

🐾 Passion: "Dogs hold the highest place in my heart. My dog growing up was my rock, and she inspired my work with animals. In my work as a trainer, I help to create a common language between dogs and their pup parents. Let's get through the struggles so we can get to the cuddles."

🐾 Expertise: Dani has years of experience working with dogs of all breeds and sizes. She started volunteering with animal rescues in 2015, working closely with dogs. From there, she began working professionally at an animal rescue in Southern California, which blossomed into an apprenticeship as a dog trainer. Since then, she has worked one-on-one with clients, and as a group facilitator in rehabilitation centers, sharing the healing magic of dogs with at-risk individuals. Whether you’re dealing with basic obedience or more advanced training, she’s got the skills and knowledge to make a difference.

🐾 Approach: She believes in a positive reinforcement approach, ensuring that each training session is fun, engaging, and effective for both you and your pup. Such training is beneficial to establish good behavior at home, as well as a good mental workout for high-energy dogs. Whatever your needs, her goal is to set your pup up for success!
