What is required for my dog to participate in Doggie Daycare or be a hotel guest?

Guests must be at least 16 weeks old & have received their 1st round of adult vaccinations.
Dogs over 8 months old must be spayed or neutered and be current on all required vaccinations.
Pet's must also be on a vet approved Flea & Tick regimen.
Proof of vaccinations must be provided:
- Required vaccinations: Rabies, DHP and Bordetella.
Vaccination records can be emailed to us by clients or veterinary clinics at info@barklandia-pdx.com
In order to determine if a dog is good fit for doggie daycare, each dog must come in for a Meet and Greet. Meet and Greets are supervised by Barklandia staff and are provided at NO COST. Each evaluation lasts approximately two hours and consists of structured and unstructured (but always supervised) playtime with both dogs and staff members. In order for us to truly get a sense your furry friend, we conduct these appointments without owners present.

Will my dog be safe at Barklandia?

Safety of our furry guests, their humans, and our amazing staff is our top priority! While animals may sometimes engage in unexpected and unpredictable behavior, we will always work to create a safe environment by:

Ensuring all daycare and overnight guests pass a thorough temperament evaluation.
Requiring all clients to provide proof of current vaccinations.
Providing separate play areas, as needed, for large dogs and small dogs.
Providing supervision for the daycare floor.
PETS MUST BE IN GOOD HEALTH AT CHECK IN OR DROP OFF.
PETS THAT ARE EXHIBITING SYMPTOMS OF CANINE COUGH OR OTHER RESPIRATORY ILLNESSES MAY NOT BE DROPPED OFF. For the health and safety of our guests, there are NO EXCEPTIONS to this expectation.

Are there breed restrictions?

Barklandia does not put restrictions on dog breeds. However, dogs with aggressive tendencies or overly fearful dogs may not be a good fit for Doggie Daycare. A Meet and Greet will help us get to know your furry friend and help ensure the safety of all guests and staff members.

If my dog fails the Meet and Greet, does that mean he or she can't come to Barklandia?

The health and safety of our guests is our top priority. If a dog fails our Meet and Greet, we will be happy to connect you with our trainer. Our trainer may be able to help your doggie overcome behaviors that are hindering your dog’s participation in group play. There may be some instances when a dog does not pass the Meet and Greet due to reasons that are non-aggressive in nature. Depending on capacity, and other factors, we may be able to provide individual playtime and exercise time for these circumstances for additional fees.

Why are vaccinations required?

Vaccinations are required because they are our first and best defense against communicable illness and disease. Since socialization with other dogs is such a large part of daycare, there are no exceptions to this requirement.

What will my dog do at Doggie Daycare?

Doggie daycare and dog boarding means your dog will play chase, run around, socialize with new friends, and get all the exercise they can handle! Of course there's also plenty of time for lounging around and getting tummy rubs! After spending time at Barklandia, your furry friend will come home happy and tired. We also offer professional dog grooming so your puppy can come home extra clean and fresh! And we all know the only thing better than a tired dog is a clean and tired dog!

Can I stop by to check in on my dog during the day?

We believe in transparency and want all clients / potential clients to feel comfortable when their doggies are in our care! However, for the safety of all our guests and staff we do not allow clients into our lobby. Doggies do not always respond well to humans they don't know and the best way to ensure a safe environment is for us to keep our lobby closed. That being said, we STRONGLY encourage clients and potential clients to check out the environment through our LIVE STREAMING webcams during our streaming hours! In the spirit of TRANSPARENCY, you don't need a password and we never know if and when someone is enjoying our cameras!

Can I check in on my dog online?

You bet! We have a live streaming camera in each of our main play rooms that allow you to view the play floor during most daycare hours. We strongly encourage clients and potential clients to check out the environment through our LIVE STREAMING webcams during our streaming hours! In the spirit of TRANSPARENCY, you don't need a password and we never know if and when someone is enjoying our cameras!

Is Daycare included when dogs stay overnight?

All over night stays include as much access to our Daycare Floor that your pooch can handle.

What will my dog's day be like?

In general, your furry friend's day will look like this:

Wake up call and breakfast around 6:00 AM
Potty time and morning refresh around 6:30 AM
Playcare, naps, meals, and potty breaks during normal Playcare Hours. (Meal times scheduled per your directions)
Potty time and evening refresh around 7:30 PM
Bedtime potty break and tuck in around 10:30 PM

Will my dog be comfortable overnight?

Our Pet Hotel is designed to be the 'next best thing' to your own home.

Our entire facility is climate controlled. Perfect for keeping cool on hot summer days and staying warm on cold nights!
Standard suites are 4' x 4' and provide plenty of room for most dogs to stretch out and get a good night's sleep.
Upgraded suites start at 5' x 5' and range up to 8' x 10'. These suites are perfect for those who want extra room to lounge around before bedtime.
Each suite can be single or double occupied.
Each suite comes with a raised pet bed to help facilitate a good night's rest.
For a small fee, you can purchase a Kong Toy and have it filled with peanut butter for an after dinner snack or a beef marrow bone for an extra special treat.

Of course, you are always welcome to bring bedding from home or a favorite snuggle toy!

What are the Pet Hotel requirements & what should I bring for our dog when they stay overnight?

All pets must pass a Meet and Greet in order to use our Pet Hotel services.
Pets must be in good health at Check in. Symptoms of Bordetella (Canine Cough)or any other respiratory illness can not be present upon check. If symptoms are present, Barklandia will refuse the boarding drop off. This must be done for the health and safety of all our guests.
Each dog should arrive with enough food for their stay. All food containers should be clearly labeled with your dogs first and last name.
Current vaccinations must be on file. We cannot allows pets to stay with us for daycare or overnight without current proof of all required vaccinations.
In order to help ensure a safe, healthy, and sanitized stay Barklandia is no longer able to allow clients to bring pet beds and blankets from home. We will provide everything your doggie will need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay! Please know that we use professional quality Kuranda Pet Beds that are made with strict material and safety standards and all of our blankets are regularly inspected to make sure they are in tip-top shape!
What can I bring to make them feel at home? Chew toys and bones that are non-choking hazards are wonderful! A T-shirt is also a wonderful item to provide if you would like your pup to have something that has the scent of home!
