Information about Health & Safety

Will my dog be safe at Barklandia?

Safety of our furry guests, their humans, and our amazing staff is our top priority! While animals may sometimes engage in unexpected and unpredictable behavior, we will always work to create a safe environment by:

  • Ensuring all Playcare and overnight guests pass a thorough temperament evaluation.
  • Requiring all clients to provide proof of current vaccinations.
  • Providing separate play areas, as needed, for large dogs and small dogs.
  • Providing supervision for the playcare floor at all times.

Are there breed restrictions?

Barklandia does not put restrictions on dog breeds.  However, dogs with aggressive tendencies or overly fearful dogs may not be a good fit for Playcare.  Temperament Evaluations help us get to know your furry friend and help ensure the safety of all guests and staff members.

If my dog fails the Temperament Evaluation, does that mean he or she can't come to Barklandia?

The health and safety of our guests is our top priority.  If a dog fails our temperament evaluation, we will be happy to refer you to an experienced trainer that may be able to help overcome behaviors that are hindering your dog’s participation in group play. There may be some instances when a dog does not pass the Temperament Evaluation due to reasons that are non-aggressive in nature. Depending on capacity, we may be able to provide individual playtime and exercise time for these circumstances. A few examples may include:

  • Guests who may not be interested in participating in group play, but they may enjoy watching the group from a safe distance.
  • Guests who may be content sleeping by a window in the sun or hanging out with a caregiver in another part of the building.

Why are vaccinations required?

Vaccinations are required because they are our first and best defense against communicable illness and disease. Since socialization with other dogs is such a large part of Playcare, there are no exceptions to this requirement.

What type of floor is used in the Playcare area?

Playcare is a fun and exciting way for dogs to socialize and burn energy. However, all that running, jumping, and chasing can be stressful on their bones and joints.  In order to help protect our guests, we use a special rubberized flooring material that helps absorb the impact of active play.

What will my dog do at Playcare?

Doggie daycare and dog boarding means your dog will play chase, run around, socialize with new friends, and get all the exercise they can handle!  Of course there's also plenty of time for lounging around and getting tummy rubs!  After spending time at Barklandia, your furry friend will come home happy and tired. We also offer dog grooming so your puppy extra clean and fresh! And we all know the only thing better than a tired dog is a clean and tired dog!

Can I stop by to check in on my dog during the day?

Absolutely!  We love visitors and hope you will grab a complimentary water, coffee, or soda any time you stop by.  A couple of things to keep in mind:

  • For the safety of our guests, staff, and visitors - we require visitors to be accompanied by a staff member.
  • We only allow visitors in certain areas.  However, we have an open floor plan and you will still be able to see your furry friend from the allowable areas.

Can I check in on my dog online?

You bet!  We have several cameras positioned throughout the facility that allow you to view the Playcare area during normal Playcare hours.

Do you have more than one Playcare area?

We have two main Playcare areas.  One area is for larger dogs and one is for the tiny tikes.
